Adventures in Headlines:
Yes yes, I know, we all know, that the NY Post is what one could call a less-than stellar tabloid. Sometimes you forget just how less than stellar though. Take for example the following two headlines. From the New York Times, presented first so you know what the hell the story is about:
Two Officers Accused of Raping an Intoxicated Woman They Escorted Home
Horrible, right? You see and think well damned if *I* ever ask a cop for help when I’m intoxicated. I hope they investigate this and do something about the two officers. If it’s true those awful men don’t deserve to be a part of New York’s Proudest, or Finest, or whatever the motto for the NYPD is.
Then there’s the NY Post:
“Rape” Cops on Tape
I don’t know if it’s the quotes around the word rape or the fact that this story is placed right beneath a pinup shot of Katie Holmes in fishnets, but does anyone else think this sounds more like a guerilla porno title than a news headline?
